BOSS Announced Version 3 Update for GT-1000 Guitar Effects Processor



BOSS announced another feature-rich firmware update to the GT-1000 Guitar Effects Processor. Free for all GT-1000 owners, the Version 3 update brings bass guitar support with three AIRD bass preamp types and a large selection of bass-tuned effects.

Manual and Pedalboard modes have been added as well, offering even more options for real-time effects control. The GT-1000’s AIRD Output library has also been expanded with 13 new selections, providing optimized interfacing with a wider range of amplification system.

The flagship GT-1000 has received universal acclaim for its class-leading sound and feel, extensive effects, versatile real-time control, and travel-ready size. Standout features include a high-powered custom DPS engine, 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit floating-point processing, and 96 kHz sampling rate throughout, plus the ability to edit patches wirelessly via built-in Bluetooth and a dedicated app. The GT-1000 platform continues to evolve through ongoing firmware development, with each revision adding new features and functionality enhancements requested by GT-1000 users.

GT-1000 Version 3 includes new footswitch modes for even more control on stage and in the studio. Manual mode – a popular feature found in previous generation GT-processors – allows the user to set up on/off control of any amp or effect on a secondary layer that can be accessed with a footswitch assignment.

The all-new Pedalboard mode takes an even more direct approach for players wanting a traditional stompbox experience, providing a dynamic effects layout that’s outside the normal patch structure and always ready to go when needed.

One of the GT-1000’s most powerful benefits is its AIRD Output Select functionality, which gives the user consistent tone with any connected device, whether it’s a regular amp input, amp effects return, PA mixer, or recording interface. Version 3 adds 11 types to the large guitar-based AIRD Output Select collection in the GT-1000, plus 2 types of new AIRD bass preamps.

The GT-1000 Version 3 update is available as a free download and can be installed by connecting the GT-1000 to a Mac or Windows computer via USB.


Sony Announced the HDC-5000 Multi-Format Live Camera



Sony Electronics announced the latest member of its HDC family of 4K live camera systems. HDC-5500 is a new multi-format live camera capable of direct 4K signal output in 12G-SDI carrying the world’s first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter three CMOS sensors that ensure superb image quality in HD, 4K and HDR live production.

The HDC-5500 outputs a 4K signal directly from its 12G-SDI output. Installing a wireless side panel option, HDC-5500 can be operated as a wireless camera as well as used with a camera stabilizer.

Using newly developed signal processing technology between the camera and CCU, the Ultra High Bitrate (UHB) transmission enables the transmission of two camera signals simultaneously by a single fiber cable, increasing the operational flexibility of the camera system.

The 4K TRUNK feature efficiently transmits two sources from HDC-5500 to CCU; one source from the “host” HDC-5500 itself and a second camera connected to the HDC-5500’s 12G-SDI input. In addition, 4K PROMPTER is transmitted from the HDCU-5500 to camera head also utilizing the UHB transmission.

The HDC-5500 can utilize an interchangeable side panel which can ensure backward compatibility with current HD camera control units such as the HDCU-2500/3100 series.

The HDC-5500 is planned to be available in May of 2019.


Eventide has a Sale on Blackhole



The photo of the black hole that is being passed around the internet appears to have inspired Eventide to have a sale on Blackhole. Get Blackhole for $29 through April 14, 2019. Blackhole is regularly priced at $199.

Most reverbs are earth-bound and constrained by the physics of the real world. Our Blackhole reverb breaks the rules by allowing you to create virtual spaces that could never exist in reality (at least the one we inhabit). At large sizes, its soft attack and lingering, harmonic tails allows it to really shine on guitars, strings, and pads. At small sizes those very same qualities can add an angelic sheen to vocals or turn a simple drum track into an otherworldly rhythm section.

We’ve now perfected the galactic sounds of the Blackhole reverb in native plug-in form. With the Blackhole plug-in, any instrument in your DAW can warp acoustic space and time.

This famed, massive reverberator first saw the light of day as an algorithm in Eventide’s rackmount DSP4000 and remained a favorite in the rackmount H8000FW. For decades, studio engineers considered Blackhole their “secret weapon.” More recently, it was ported to Eventide’s Space stompbox and became the go-to ambient effect for guitar and keyboard layers. With each new version the reverb has been refined and enhanced.

Blackmagic Design Announces New ATEM Constellation



Blackmagic Design announced ATEM Constellation 8K a major new high end live production switcher with 8K capability that lets customers create content for the next generation of the television industry. ATEM Constellation is available now from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide for US $9,995.

The new ATEM Constellation 8K is an Ultra HD live production switcher with so many features, customers can combine them all to make an incredibly powerful 8K switcher. Customers get 4 M/Es, 40 x 12G-SDI aux outputs, 4 DVEs, 16 Keyers, 4 media players, 4 multi viewers, 2 SuperSource and standards conversion on every SDI input. Then when switched to 8K, all these features combine to make a powerful 8K switcher.

ATEM Constellation 8K features a compact 2RU rack mount design with a built in control panel. This allows operation of the switcher, critical during setup for emergency use. Also included is a large LCD so customers can see program output and change switcher settings via on screen menus.

Although only 2RU size, the rear of the switcher has a massive 40 x 12G-SDI inputs, 2 x 12G-SDI aux outputs, plus balanced audio, Ethernet, RS-422 control and MADI digital audio extra inputs to the internal Fairlight audio mixer.

With a built in control panel, customers can simply walk up and take full control of the ATEM Constellation at any time. Customers get incredible power with both PGM/PVV or cut-bus style operation. The buttons are the same premium type used on full sized panels, and allow control of transitions, upstream/downstream keyers, media players and fade to black. But users are never limited, as the LCD menus also allow every single operational feature of the switcher to be accessed.

Customers get 40 independent 12G-SDI inputs, each with input featuring its own dedicated up and cross converter. That means it’s possible to convert 1080p and Ultra HD sources to stunning 8K to use them in their 8K programs. Telestream Unveiled Instantaneous Channel-as-a-Service System at NAB 2019



Telestream, a leading provider of workflow automation, processing and quality monitoring and management solutions for the production and distribution of video, introduced OptiQ, a new and radically different one-click channel creation solution for cloud environments.

The product of a strategic research initiative that sees Telestream working closely with a major European telecoms service provider, OpticQ transforms the new channel creation task from a process that took weeks or even months to one that takes just minutes to complete.

Once created, these new video channels exhibit considerable sophistication: as standard, they feature integrated monitoring throughout and the ability to switch between multiple sources (live or file-based). A ‘pay-as-you-go’ business model offers the flexibility to accommodate unforeseen fluctuations in demand while aligning to such costs to revenues. As a result, users do not need to pre-spend to ensure they meet such demand.

OptiQ targets a number of applications. It facilitates new revenue streams for content providers looking to accelerate time to market for new channels, and for broadcasters and service providers by enabling short-term (premium and non-premium) channels/events, or additional content such as highlight reels, player bios, and event histories alongside premium content.

Focusrite’s RedNet Control Now Includes Support for Red Range Interfaces



Focusrite has released RedNet Control 2.3, a free update that unifies RedNet Control with configuration, status monitoring, metering and extended operational control of the Red 4Pre, Red 8Pre, Red 16Line – Focusrite’s range of audio interfaces offering up to 64 in / 64 out Thunderbolt I/O with Pro Tools HD and Dante network audio connectivity.

Focusrite RedNet Control’s “Device View” features a graphical representation of each device on the local network, giving critical feedback such as signal metering, clock status, power supply state and primary/secondary network connection state. RedNet Control is completely customizable, which allows for several users on the same network to have completely different views.

RedNet Control also provides parameter control. This includes clock source selection, sample rate converter configuration, and reference level setup. All the functions of Red mic pres can be controlled from the software: Gain, Phantom Power, Phase Invert, High-Pass Filter, and Air Mode. Graphical control for Red range units is separated into five pages: I/O Control & Meeting, Input Routing, Output Routing, Monitor Control and Custom Mixes.

From the Custom Mixes page, RedNet Control’s internal audio mixer allows you to create up to eight separate mono or stereo sub-mix signals. Up to 30 of all the available inputs can be selected as sources for the mixer. Once selected, these input signals will then become available to all Custom Mixes. Each mixer output can have an individual balance of fader levels, mute and channel pan settings.

Where more hands-on control is required, RedNet Control features a MIDI bridge, allowing any programmable CC-based or SysEX MIDI controller to manage up to 16 different devices with mic press. This allows gain to be easily mapped to an encoder for tactile control. RedNet Control includes the option to use the Avid Pre CC protocol, meaning Red range devices can be controlled from ProTools and in turn with one of the Pro Tools controllers such as Artist series, S3 or S6.

RedNet Control’s automatic firmware update ensures that all Red and RedNet devices on the network are kept up to date with the latest firmware. This guarantees that the latest Dante updates from Focusrite will be loaded to the device, ensuring the best possible performance.

RedNet Control 2.3 is available now for free download. The installation package, available for Mac OS X computers includes the RedNet Control application, the Dante Controller application, PCle drivers and Red range driver.

Datavideo Announces the ITC-300 Digital Intercom System



Datavideo announces the ITC-300, an 8-channel digital intercom system. The ITC-300 is a single wired communication system, which provides single or all-call voice, power, and tally over standard Ethernet cable for up to eight belt packs. The unique ethernet locking system ensures secure and reliable connectivity to each belt pack.

The distance between the belt packs and the base station can be up to 300ft (100m). The base station can communicate with each belt pack individually or all at the same time. Each belt pack has dual color tally indicator, talk and call buttons, headset connection, and external tally connection.

The ITC-300 comes with belt packs, headsets, and tally lights for 4 users.

Datavideo Announces the NVS-33 H.264 Encoder and MP4 Recorder



Datavideo introduces the NVS-33 and H.264 streaming encoder and recorder. THE NVS-33 has HD-SDI and HDMI inputs for video as well as stereo RCA connections for embedded audio.

The NVS-33 can stream and record at different bit rates simultaneously. It records onto an SD card in NTFS, FAT, or exFAT formats to allow continuous recording without a file size limitation.

Front panel operation with easy-to-use buttons makes this encoder desirable for many applications such as Houses of Worship, Education, Corporations, and Live Event Production.

In addition to a bit rate selection button on the front panel, the NVS-33 has video input selection, stream, record, and stream + record buttons. Once the NVS-33 is setup initially using a PC/Mac computer or tablet with a web browser, users can simply press one button to start their streaming and recording.
