NewTek Introduces TriCaster TC1

NewTek has announced TriCaster TC1, the culmination of more than a decade of IP video experience for live production, with uncompromising support for 4K UHD switching, live streaming, recording, data-driven graphics, virtual sets, social media publishing, and more.

Continuing innovation around the iconic product that has defined an industry, TriCaster TC1 supports 16 external inputs of 4K UHD 60p resolution without sacrificing functionality. Powered by NewTek’s NDI technology for IP-based workflows, TriCaster TC1 also offers multiple studio-grade Skype TX channels for adding remote video guests to live shows.

NewTek’s software-driven, IP-native approach to 4K eliminated the need for conversion to and from baseband video, allowing all integrated features including video playback, mix/effect busses, keying layers, and streaming 4K-capable without limiting the number of available resources. TriCaster TC1 has 16 inputs available, regardless of video resolution, and New Tek’s top of the line IP Series now offers 44 external inputs in 4K UHD without sacrificing functionality.

With the explosion of online and mobile video, broadcasters and content producers need a way to stream live and encode/publish video to social media quickly and easily. Whether you need to go live for breaking news or post recorded video clips that viewers can see on demand, TriCaster T1 handles it all. Users can stream directly to social media sites right from the TriCaster TC1 interface.

A new feature with TriCaster TC1 and IP Series is integrated multi-channel Skype TX integration. NewTek is the only company to offer this functionality in a live production system in the world. Any one of the TriCaster TC1’s 16 external inputs can be designated for live, broadcast-quality Skype video calling, giving producers the capability to reach any one of the 300 million monthly active users of Skype and deliver a pristine HD video call with balanced audio.

With studio-ready call control from an external laptop or workstation running the Skype TX controller application, calls can be configured and monitored without impacting the TriCaster TC1 operator’s workflow. Other active call channels from NewTek TalkShow systems can be managed from the controller for additional call capacity and streamlined management.

TriCaster TC1 in a 2RU chassis is priced at $14,995 USMSRP. TriCaster TC1R provides optional redundant power in 3RU chassis and is priced at $19,995 USMSRP. TC1LP Control Panels are priced at $11,995 and $6,995 USMSRP respectively. The NewTek Connect NC1 IN and the NC1 I/O Modules are priced at $5,995 and $9995 USMSRP respectively.

NewTek’s TriCaster TC1 and IP Series systems, now also 4K-capable, will be on display at NAB 2017 Booth #SL5016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 24-27, 2017.

AVerMedia 4k Capture Card Evolves with NewTek NDI

AVerMedia has announced support for NewTek’s NDI, a software-driven live production IP workflow over Ethernet. In doing so, AVerMedia has become a member of the NewTek Developer Network. Joining the industry’s largest IP ecosystem with hundreds of NDI-ready commercial products and the rapidly expanding number of companies enabling IP-based customer workflows, AverMedia’s NDI-ready products allow them to be recognized and communicate with other NDI-readied applications and devices connected to the Ethernet network.

NewTek’s royalty free NDI technology allows video and audio sources to be shared bi-directionally across a network, eliminating the need for costly direct connections, expensive cable runs, and infrastructure upgrades while utilizing every IP video source on the network instantly.

Gone are the days of bandwidth and hardware restrictions for 4K video streaming. Coupling NDI with AVerMedia’s 4K PCle capture card, live 4K video can be accessed flawlessly over the network while the IP-based workflow simplifies the creation and distribution of high quality media production. The advantages of AVerMedia SDK incorporating NDI means network users accessing the 4K stream also gain AVerMedia 4K capture card’s video processing functionalities such as resolution scaling, de-interlacing, and color-space conversion.

AVerMedia is also supporting NDI version 2.0, the recently updated software development kit (SDK) from NewTek The NDI SDK is royalty free for any company looking to establish IP workflows within their organization, or in commercial products and applications they deliver.

Building on the widely adopted and ground-breaking NDI announced at IBC 2015, NewTek’s NDI version 2 adds higher performance, resolution independence, 16-bit per channel support for the highest precision color of any IP standard, 16 channels of floating point audio, improved cross subnet support, integrated fail-safe support, network-based re-routing support, and more.

NewTek Introduces the NewTek IP Series

NewTek IP SeriesNewTek has introduced the NewTek IP Series. It is a facility-grade, software-driven scalable system that combines IP flexibility with SDI compatibility. It asks the question: What if the boundaries about how to produce video did not exist?

NewTek Brings NDI Technology to Adobe Creative Cloud

NewTek LogoLast fall, NewTek, the Texas-based hardware/software developer renowned for its media and broadcast products, announced the launch of its new NDI protocol for transmitting video over digital networks. Since then, NewTek has been working with third parties to help expand the adoption of NDI. Last month, NewTek announced it would bring NDI to Adobe’s Creative Cloud family of applications and services:

The NDI integration enables users of Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications to send real-time video and audio to any NDI-enabled receiving product, such as production switchers or capture cards, across a standard Ethernet network. With NDI for Adobe Creative Cloud, creators and producers can significantly accelerate their pre- and post- production pipelines, bypassing rendering and uploading of creative elements for a faster, more efficient delivery for content review and approval. It also allows teams in different locations to work together in one interface in real-time, making creative decisions collaboratively—and saving valuable time in the process.

NewTek’s NDI plugin for Adobe Creative Cloud is available thru a $9.99 monthly subscription from the NewTek Store. The NDI protocol itself is now available as a royalty-free software developer kit for any company looking to establish IP workflows within their organization, or in production tools and systems they manufacture.

Newtek Announces NDI Protocol for Video Production

NewTek LogoNewtek, the Texas-based technology company best known for its Tricaster line of products, recently announced the development of a new protocol for connecting video equipment to Ethernet networks. The protocol is named Network Device Interface (NDI). From the Newtek press release:

…a new open standard for live production IP workflows over Ethernet networks. NDI allows multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP, and to encode, transmit and receive many streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real-time. This new protocol can benefit any network-connected video device, including video mixers, graphics systems, capture cards, and many other production devices.

NDI will be available as a free, open-source SDK in Q4 of 2015. Newton expects many software developers and hardware manufacturer will begin adopting NDI, helping to ensure it’ll become the new standard for connecting video equipment to IP networks. Also, the NDI protocol should work with most existing video applications and hardware products from the beginning. NDI is also compatible with SDI equipment as well as many other established network technologies.

This should prove to be a real game changer for media producers going forward, as it’ll improve video production workflows and make it easier to integrate different types of equipment in different locations.
