Charvel And Angel Vivaldi Refine Modern Virtuosos Guitar with New Signature Model

Today, Charvel is once again partnering with Angel Vivialdi to release a new version of his signature Nova guitar, the ANGEL VIVALDI SIGNATURE PRO-MOD NOVA-7 NAT, available in an elegant natural finish with gold hardware. Charvel collaborated closely with the New Jersey native to release a guitar that packs as much force as Vivaldi himself. With modern features, this versatile guitar is perfect for the modern shredder looking to take their sound to the next level.

Vivaldi’s blend of spell-binding guitar anthems and tasteful yet virtuosic songwriting has amassed fans worldwide. Vivaldi picked up his first guitar at age 15, and has spent nearly two decades honing his craft. His vivid artistry and discography of meticulously arranged instrumental prog rock has earned him a reputation as one of the most celebrated, prolific guitarists of modern times and an imaginative force to be reckoned with.

Recognizing his technical brilliance, Charvel – known for crafting high-performance tone machines for world-class musicians — partnered with Vivaldi in 2019 to introduce his signature guitar, the Charvel Nova, and then expanded with various six and seven string models. Inspired by Vivaldi’s explorations into Latin fusion, funk, and the versatility to transform contemporary guitar sound without compromise.

“This Nova is eight years in the making and sports some pretty considerable upgrades that will really take things up a notch,” said Angel Viviadi on his new signature guitar. “The natural finish reminds me that it isn’t just a piece of gear, it’s like this living breathing part of the creative process for me… it just feels free, no resistance, no restrictions.”

This premium guitar features a modified Dinky caramelized basswood body capped with a flame maple top and 3-ply body binding. Thanks to its sculpted heel, guitarists enjoy comfortable upper fret access while its tilt-back reverse 7-string licensed Fender Stratocaster headstock provides ideal string tension.

Its 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard has comfortable rolled edges, 24 jumbo frets, cascading black dot inlays and a Gotoh locking nut. The bolt-on maple neck is custom-shaped to Vivaldi’s preferences with graphite reinforcement, a silky-smooth satin back finish, Luminary side dots and a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel.

Crafted to bring out the most unbelievable deep, full tones and rich harmonics, the HH pickup configuration consists of a DiMarzio Tone Zone bridge pickup and DiMarzio Air Norton neck pickup, both adorned with gold covers. Lastly, this premium modern guitar features a five-way blade pickup switch, dome-style volume and tone knobs, a recessed Gotoh GEI996T double-locking tremolo bridge and Charvel-branded die-cast tuners.

“This collaboration allows us to merge Angel’s signature playing techniques with Charvel’s legendary craftsmanship, resulting in an instrument and forward-thinking approach that has defined traditional and modern progressive players,” said Peter Winchers, Product Manager at Charvel Guitars.

“Angel embodies the virtuosic technique and forward-thinking approach that has defined Charvel for decades. His musical versatility, technical precision and innovative vision perfectly align with our commitment to creating instruments that push boundaries.”

Charvel Announces Guthrie Govan Signature MJ San Dimas SD24 CM

Charvel announced the launch of the highly-anticipated Guthrie Govan Signature MJ San Dimas SD24 CM, the next iteration in a long-standing lineage of models with the modern virtuoso. Charvel and Govan spent two years meticulously developing his original USA signature lineup, and that same attention to detail surfaced once again with this new made in Japan collaboration.

“I have been playing guitar since I was three years old, so having my own signature mode feels like an honor which comes with a certain responsibility,” Given said. “If you are going to have your name on the back of an instrument’s headstock, that’s you personally vouching for the quality and usability of that instrument, which is not something to be taken lightly. With my signature Charvel guitar, I feel completely confident to play it anywhere in the world and at any type of gig.”

Known for his dizzying technical proficiency, unconventional style and extraordinary, improvisational skills across multiple genres, Govan has built an impressive body of work with the Aristocrats, Asia, GPS, the Young Punx and the Fellowship. The Guitarist magazine Guitarist of the Year 1993 winner and global online sensation was also hand-picked by Grammy-winning film composer Hans Zimmer as the lead guitarist for his 2016 live touring orchestra, and has collaborated with the famed composer on ensuring film scores.

He is widely heralded for his mastery of complex fusion, a pursuit that he’s been developing ever since first picking up the guitar as a child. When it came to developing his signature instrument, it was critically important to build a tool that would allow for the continuation of his versatile and expansive creative expression.

“You end up on this quest to find an instrument that feels and natural as possible,” Govan said. “When you’re playing, I think it’s a good goal not to have been too aware of the instrument and for it to feel more of an extension of yourself – then you can concentrate purely on what type of noises you are trying to make and share with the world. This guitar is a result of that process for me personally.”

Musicians worldwide have long relied on Charvel for exceptional guitar design and this collaboration with the renowned musician is no exception. Cloaked in a classic Three-Tone Sunburst finish, the instrument is loaded with top-end specs handpicked by Govan. The 25.5”-scale signature model features a basswood body with an ash top and specially contoured heel (sans neck plate) for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard. The graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck has a “caramelized” heat and drying treatment that makes it sound and feel much older, along with a satin finish on the back of the neck for smooth playability. Most unusual for a San Dimas model, the 12”-16” compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard features 24 jumbo stainless-steel frets, as well as crème dot inlays, Luminlay side dots and a conveniently located heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel.

As an homage to the late ’80s when Charvel guitars were manufactured exclusively in Japan, Govan’s all-new signature model is also loaded with an assortment of top-end features that deliver the superior sound, craftsmanship and feel prized by today’s high-performance players. Other premium features include three specially wound Charvel custom pickups arranged in a versatile HSH configuration with five-way switching for the expansive tonal openness and dynamic sensitivity that Govan demands, along with a two-way mini toggle switch to engage single-coil simulation in bridge and neck humbucker positions. This instrument also comes loaded with two Luminlay numbered dome control knobs for volume and tone, recessed Charvel locking tremolo bridge with pop-in tremolo arm and brass block, Gotoh die-cast locking tuners and Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut.

Charvel Releases the Angel Vivaldi Signature Pro-Mod DK 24-6 Nova

Charvel released the highly-anticipated ANGEL VIVALDI SIGNATURE PRO-MOD DK24-6 NOVA.

Vivaldi’s otherworldly talent and flamboyant style have earned him a reputation as one of the most celebrated and prolific instrumentalist guitarists in modern times. Known for his love of 7-string guitars, the New Jersey native initially collaborated with Charvel on his DK24-7 Nova models. Now arrives a 6-string variant that possesses all the unique appointments and exquisite style fans have come to expect from Vivaldi.

“Like most guitarists I started out on a 6-string and wound up moving to 7-strings, almost exclusively in 2003, for the main purpose of eliminating the need to tune down or reset up my guitars”, explains Vivaldi. “However, as you grow and evolve and change as a musician, it’s also really important to maybe change and re-examine the gear you use in order to do so. Enter this devastatingly gorgeous instrument.”

Dressed to impress, the ANGEL VIVALDI SIGNATURE PRO-MOD DK24-6 NOVA comes in a divine Lucerne Aqua Firemist finish with color matched reverse licensed Fender Stratocaster headstock, unique cascading black dot inlays, gold pickup bobbins and gold hardware.

Its modified Dinky basswood body with scalloped lower back bout and sculpted shredder’s cut heal is paired with a bolt-on caramelized maple neck and fingerboard.

“I decided to roast the neck on this model for a number of reasons,” says Vivaldi. “First, to minimize the contraction and expansion of the wood so that it is a lot more stable, which is very helpful when you have a non-locking system. Secondly, to achieve this smoothness that you really only get after breaking the guitar in after many, many years of playing and lastly, because it’s just aesthetically beautiful against this finish.”

Similar to his previous models, the graphite-reinforced neck with scarf-joint has been custom-shaped to Vivaldi’s preference; a journey that was not a simple rinse and repeat from his 7-string Novas.

“When it came to the neck profile, I really had to reimagine it from scratch because one thing I learned is that doing a 6-string version of a 7-string profile, it just doesn’t translate like you think it would, mostly because the width to the thickness ratio has to be just right,” Vivaldi says. “I tried a bunch of different profiles and we created this incredible neck shape, which to me is the apex of what a 6-string really should feel like. It’s full, robust and fits seamlessly in the grasp of my hand, making it very comfortable to play and very ideal for alternative tunings.”

Vivaldi’s DK-24-6 Nova also has Luminlay side dots for fretboard guidance while on dark stages, and a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel for quick neck relief tweaks. The caramelized maple fingerboard has a 12”-16” compound radius, comfortable rolled edges, 24 jumbo frets and Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut.

The DiMarzio The Tone Zone bridge and DiMarzio Air Norton neck humbucking pickups combine for a perfect blend of power and tone, delivering unbelievably deep, full tones and rich harmonics come. Other premium modern features include a five-way blade pickup switch, dome-style knobs for the volume and tone controls, Gotoh Custom 510 tremolo bridge, locking tuners, and more.
